Years in the Making: Swavor x G.Pack

On Sunday, April 13th, two creative forces from Maryland, Swavor and muralist Gentry Pack, aka G. Pack, turned Studio 52 in Washington, D.C., into more than just a pop-up. It became a cultural convergence point, where fashion met fine art, and community met creativity.
The collaboration had been years in the making, spoken of between friends but never quite brought to life. “This was the year we actually said we have to do this,” said Shek Tarawallie, founder and creative director of Swavor. What started as conversations evolved into a full-fledged capsule release, with Swavor translating G. Pack’s bold visual language, most notably a doberman motif, into garments that felt as intentional as the murals that inspired them.

The event was electric. “That shit was live,” G. Pack said. “Bringing that many of the hottest DMV creatives into one room for a day was kinda the wildest part.” The energy was immersive, something between a fashion show, an art exhibit, and a family reunion. “It felt like a party at an art exhibit,” Shek added. “It hit a lot of senses.”
The night wasn’t just about the drop, though. It was also about recognition. About history. About people who had been watching each other grow for years, finally occupying the same room. “One couple told me how they’d followed my work since college without ever meeting me,” G. Pack said. “It reminded me of how art can quietly connect lives.”

As for the pieces? Instant classics. “Nobody picked anything up and put it down,” Shek said. “It was all instant cops.” The crowd responded with genuine love, not just for the garments, but for what they represented: trust, authenticity, and years of work finally materializing.
For both creators, the pop-up was a high, but also a reminder that there’s more work ahead.
“That moment of G & I sitting underneath our logos was special,” Shek said. “But I still thought, ‘Man, we’ve got much more to do.’”
Their advice for the next generation of collaborators? Be patient. Be honest. And most importantly, do it for the right reasons.
And in true Shek fashion: “LECHE MAGAZINE BIOTTCCH.”
