Made by Fred x Euphoria Market

When AJ Naylor launched his brand over a decade ago, the intention was simple: pay homage to his hometown and create timeless, quality goods that reflected both his environment and personal taste. What started as Fred and Co 1745, a name nodding to Frederick County, Maryland, eventually evolved into Made By Fred, a brand rooted in storytelling, heritage, and craftsmanship.

“I started Fred and Co in 2013, right around the time Instagram was just taking off,” Naylor recalls. “The first piece I ever made was a wool baseball cap with a classic ‘F’ – all cut and sewn by Ebbets Field Flannels.” That same attention to detail never left the brand, even as it grew. From Japanese cotton oxfords to brushed denim chore coats, every item is designed with precision and produced domestically. A rarity in an industry dominated by mass production.

Naylor’s background as a buyer for Frederick-based boutique, Social Study, provided a unique education. “We were one of the first shops in the DC metro area with a Quickstrike account. I was dealing with brands like The Hundreds directly, working with Bobby [Hundreds] himself,” he explains. “I learned from the best just by being in the room.”

That era shaped his ethos. Even as streetwear shifted, moving from bold graphic tees to cleaner silhouettes and American-made goods, Naylor adapted without compromising his vision. His brand remains deeply influenced by Japanese and UK street fashion, but at its core, it’s all about the DMV. “I’m from the middle of all these different styles, D.C., Baltimore, and Virginia. So I created my own lane.”

Today, Made By Fred isn’t just about clothes. It’s about perspective. “Every piece is intentional,” he says. “It’s less about trends and more about what I see and feel in my city.”

Made by Friend will collaborate with Euphoria Market this summer on some pieces. Shop at Euphoria Market on June 1st at the Dulles Expo Center to find out what they’ve been working on behind the scenes.
