In 2019, Ian Piyadasa knew he wanted to create a clothing brand that reflected his personal style. Frustrated by the lack of affordable streetwear options, he launched ÜTH Club in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with no blueprint, just instinct. “There was no real blueprint,” Ian recalls. “I just knew fashion was what I wanted to do.”

When he realized he couldn’t build it alone, he reached out to Lawrence Kouadio, aka Larry, a friend living in San Francisco who focused on modeling at the time. Larry wasn’t planning on getting into branding, but when Ian called, Larry felt the pull. “I trusted my instincts because I knew him,” he says. That decision set the foundation for what ÜTH Club would become.

ÜTH—short for "youth"—is more than just apparel. It’s a mindset. “No matter your age, you always have that youth in your heart,” Ian explains. Trusting their instincts has been the key to ÜTH’s growth. In the early years, the team hesitated and second-guessed.

Now, they move with confidence. “If an opportunity comes, we trust it and do it,” Larry says. The proof? ÜTH Club has gone from hosting one event to five this year alone.

Their advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? Just start. “Ideas don’t come to life if they stay in your head,” says Larry. Ian closes with, “Things don’t move unless you do.”

For ÜTH Club, trusting instincts isn’t just a philosophy. It’s the foundation of everything they’ve built.
